How To Create Club Tag

League of Legends clubs is one of Riot Games' features that promotes socialization among players and develops a sense of community within the game. While games like League of Legends have a high focus on competition based game-play, teamwork and communication still stand as one of its core parts. Features like this include also the friend's list and the profile search feature that allows you to check up on people you follow.

What Are League of Legends Clubs?

Clubs are a social feature in the game's client where a group of up to 50 players or accounts can simultaneously communicate with each other. With the club chat, this offers a faster way to transfer a message or invitation to a larger group of people without having to message them individually. Clubs also offer some aesthetic features like club tags and banners which will appear when you play a game or on your profile.

2. By going to your profile and choosing the Clubs menu which is just beside the Ranked button.

Club Requirements

Clubs in League of Legends have virtually no requirements. This means that you can create your own club without a level requirement or cost. However, there is a limit on how many members can join your club and how many clubs you can join and create. For inviting members, you can only have 30 members in your club and each player can only join 3 clubs at all times. Additionally, you can only be the owner of one club.

Creating Clubs

If you haven't created or joined a club yet in League of Legends, you can simply go to the upper-right side of your screen and click on the "Create a Club" button. If you are the owner of another club, you can no longer create new clubs but can still join. Another way for you to create a club is to go to your Summoner profile, go to the Clubs page, then open the My Clubs and choose Start a Club where you can be the owner of your own club.

Joining Clubs

Unfortunately, you can only join a club if a member of that club has sent you an invitation. So the best way for you to join a club is to hit up one of the members from within that club and request that you be invited politely. It is best that you join clubs where your friends are members. If you do need to join some sort of prestigious club, make sure to be polite and respectful so that you don't offend any members or officers.

Leaving Clubs

To leave your club, simply go to your club page found in your Profile. From here, look for your name where you can see the ellipsis which will drag down a few options for you to choose. Simply click Leave Club and you'll get removed right away. You might want to tell your club owner or officers why you want to leave the club so that you won't end in bad terms with the members.

Learning About Club Roles

We have been talking about members, officers, and owners but what do these titles mean? In League of Legends, or any organization for that fact, roles play a vital role in the management of your club. In League of Legends, these include 3 major roles, these are:

1. Club Owner

The club owner is the default the person who created the club, however, this is not always the case. The ownership can be transferred from one person to another. A club owner has access to all the management features such as promotion, demotion, adding and removing members. The owner can also change the name and tag of the club as well as put up the daily message.

2. Club Officer

Club officers, on the other hand, have more limited control. For example, the club officer can't change the club name or tag. However, officers can add or remove members who are invited by other members. Additionally, officers can set up the message of the day to remind members what needs to be done or just simply give an inspirational message to motivate the members.

3. Club Members

Club members are the most basic component. They have absolutely no managerial powers over the club aside from being able to send invitations to other players. However, these invitations will need to be approved by the owner or officer before they are officially received by the club. Despite this, it is still important to give importance to your members since they make up your club.

What are Club Tags?

Club tags are basically a shortened version of your club title. You can choose which club type you want to input, however, it is important to note that if a club tag has been taken by another club, you won't be able to use this club tag anymore. In addition, club tags don't have to be related to your club title or be different at all. You can set your club title as your club tag provided that it doesn't exceed the character limit.

Activating Club Tags

In order to activate your club tag, you'll need to have at least 5 members in your club. Once you've met this requirement simply go to the cog on the upper right screen and select the symbol under your club's name and create your tag. You can only have one unseparated name for your tag. This tag will now start showing in your games and in your profile.

Switching Tags

If you've previously joined a club before, the tag on the club you've created won't automatically show up. To switch tags, go to the club page again and look for the cog symbol on the upper-right side of the page beside the social bar. It'll show the options to change your active club tag or if you want to hide it. You can change your tags unlimited times per day so you can juggle between 3 club tags if you wish to do so.

Club Management

The hardest part of owning a club is managing it. If you are the owner of a club where you set certain goals and schedules for your team, you'd want to always keep it active by using the message of the day feature or assigning officers to manage the club in your absence. Of course, there are some instances where some members might get into an unfavorable situation or you feel some of your members deserve a promotion.

1. Transferring Ownership of the Club

If you think that you need time off and want somebody to manage the entirety of your club in your absence, you might want to transfer ownership. This can only be done by the owner of the club choosing to go to the club page and selecting the ellipsis to the designated club member and choosing "Transfer Ownership". After this, you'll simply be a regular member of the club unless the new owner promotes you.

2. Promoting/Demoting Members

The same process applies to promote or demote members. Simply look for the member's ellipsis and either choose "Promote" or "Demote" the member. Do this when a member either deserves to be punished or rewarded for good behavior and contribution.

3. Removing Members

When members of your club do unfavorable things or break rules, you might have no choice but to remove them. Again, simply look for that member's ellipsis and choose "Remove Member". After this, the player will no longer be able to access your club's page or message box.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I change my club's name/tag?

Unfortunately, there is no way for you to change your club's name or tag. The best way to do this is to remove all your members and delete your old club so that you can create a new one.

2. What happens if my club is inactive?

Riot Games doesn't give punishment or merit to clubs that are active or inactive. They will not be removed nor will they expire even if you don't have any other member. However, some of your members may choose to pursue other more active League of Legends clubs.

3. What happens if my club's owner gets banned?

In case this happens, it's best that you contact Riot Games Support and contact them directly so that they can transfer ownership to the next highest-ranking member of the club.

4. Who should I invite to my club?

That's entirely up to you. For most people, they invite friends or people they usually play together with. This is especially good if you plan to play a lot of normal games or Flex 5v5 games together.
